Courses in ESSReS
The educational programme of the Research School is composed of three years training with special courses focussing on the common research field Earth System Sciences. Since all PhD students will have primarily experienced a traditional education and have a background in geoscience topics, no one is educated in an interdisciplinary way.
The educational programme consists of basic courses, expert courses, seminars, and soft skill training.

- 01 October 2008: Inauguration, Opening Symposium
- 01.-02.10.2008: Introduction of ESSReS students to the AWI, IUP and Jacobs University
- 06.-10.10.2008: ESSReS-L1: Introduction to the interdisciplinary field of Earth System Science Research, Part I: The Earth system and its components, an overview
- 06.10.2008: ESSReS-S1: Begin of Student Seminar (monthly), short informal meeting
- Oct./Nov. 2008: ESSReS-SST1: Soft skill training, one week
2009:
- Feb. 2009: ESSReS-L2: Introduction to the interdisciplinary field of Earth System Science Research, Part I: Introducation to computational techniques and statistical analysis
